Complex technology, clearly told

3D animation and industrial film for mechanical engineering, plant engineering and chemicals

Your plant should win people over before it is built. From CAD data, layouts and presentations we create films that show how a paint shop, a recycling process or an entire factory works and what it delivers. Nothing needs to exist yet. This gives you visuals for pitches, trade fairs, your website and sales that show what slides can only claim.

Which films and 3D animations do we produce?

From short explainer films and product and trade fair films to image campaigns with live action, in the formats you need for trade fairs, your website, sales and social media. We develop story, storyboard and visual style together, from photorealistic 3D visualisation to 2D motion graphics. Production takes place in our studio in Stuttgart or on site at your premises.

Explainer and product films

We show how a product works and what it changes in use, as a technical 3D animation from your CAD data. For the launch, we also create trade fair films and short versions for social media.

Results: Explainer · Product film · Trade fair loop · Social media cuts · Print-resolution product renderings

Examples: Dürr Gluing for Professionals, Nagel EcoHone, Dürr EcoPaintJet product launch

Process visualisation

We make flows, particles and data streams visible: how air circulates in a purification system, how water runs through a separation system or how a vehicle senses its surroundings. Depending on the project, we visualise simulation data from your development team, for example from CFD calculations, or build the visualisation from your experts’ specifications.

Results: Flow animation · Process animation · Plant visualisation · Cutaway views · interactive 3D applications

Examples: Dürr Oxi.X RC, Dürr EcoProWet, DLR MAD Urban, BASF battery recycling

Image film and live action

Where people, places and technology come together, we combine 3D animation with live action, shot in our green screen studio or on site at your premises.

Results: Image film · Interview and presenter film · Green screen production · 2D motion graphics

Examples: Dürr EcoQPower, Dürr DXQ, Dürr Open House

When is a 3D animation worth it?

Whenever technology can’t be photographed or explained in a few sentences: because it happens inside a machine, hasn’t been built yet or extends across several stations as a process.

The process is invisible

Air, water and data flow inside plants. A flow animation shows what happens there and why your solution works better.

Examples: Dürr EcoProWet, Oxi.X RC

The plant doesn’t exist yet

For trade fairs, tenders or investment decisions you need visuals before the first part is made. We animate directly from your CAD data.

Example: Dürr EcoPaintJet

The process has many stations

Recycling, production or logistics extend across several steps. A process animation connects them into an understandable story.

Example: BASF battery recycling

Selected projects

These projects are examples of how we turn technology into images that explain: from process films to a virtual in-house exhibition. Each comes with a detailed case study.

  • BASF Battery Recycling

A process visualisation connects seven recovery processes into a closed loop.

  • Dürr Gluing for Professionals

Animated visuals show that Dürr’s expertise extends to gluing and sealing in final assembly.

  • Dürr Open House

A fully digital in-house exhibition in front of a 30 m² LED wall in the studio, with a virtual paint shop.

How are animations, visualisations and films made?

In three steps from the initial consultation to the finished film. Typical projects take four to eight weeks, depending on length, level of detail and the quality of the available data.

  1. Initial consultation and briefing We clarify the goal, target audience and where the film will be used, and review your documents.

  2. Concept and storyboard We develop story, storyboard and visual style and agree them with you before production starts.

  3. Production and editing Modelling, animation, rendering and, where needed, filming, sound and editing, with interim reviews for approval. At the end you receive all agreed formats.

What do you gain when your animation team understands the technology?

For more than ten years, our animation team has worked for mechanical engineering, medical technology and automotive, side by side with product design and engineering. We read your CAD data, understand the technology behind it and ask questions until the visualisation is right.

  • Technically correct: what you see in the film stands up to scrutiny by your development department.

  • One data set, many formats: a single 3D model yields a film, stills, a trade fair loop and an interactive application.

  • Quick changes: if the design changes, we adapt the model instead of producing from scratch.

Frequently asked questions

What do you need from us to get started?

Ideally, CAD data of your plant or product. If there is none yet, layouts, presentations or an explanation of the technology are enough; we then build the models ourselves.

How long does a production take?

Usually four to eight weeks. The duration depends on length, level of detail and the quality of the available data. We keep you up to date with interim reviews throughout production.

How much does a 3D animation cost?

That depends mainly on length, level of detail and visual style, on whether CAD data is available or we build the models ourselves, and on how many formats and language versions you need. After the initial consultation you receive a proposal, and we show you which levers help reach a target budget.

Do you visualise real simulation data?

Both are possible, depending on what you need: if simulation data is available, for example from CFD calculations, we make it visible. Otherwise we build the visualisation from your development team’s specifications and agree it with your experts.

Can we have a film adapted later?

Yes. Because the 3D model is kept, language versions, new product variants or shorter cuts can be created without a new production. If you wish, we look after your films under a maintenance agreement after the project, too.

What’s the best way to get started?

With a no-obligation initial consultation about what your film should achieve and the documents that already exist.
