We are a design agency for technical products: we design machines and products, the way they are operated, the animations that explain them, and the brand behind them. Since 1994 we have worked from Stuttgart for companies in mechanical and plant engineering, medical technology and the consumer goods industry.

Everything people encounter in a technical product comes from us: its form and the way it is operated, the images and films that explain it, the applications your customers use to choose it, and the brand under which it is sold.
In concrete terms:
- Industrial and product design through to series production, for machines also as machine design
- UX and HMI design for the interfaces of machines and medical devices
- 3D animation and industrial film for trade fairs, sales and product launches
- 3D product configurators and web apps
- Corporate design and brand identity
We take on individual tasks, such as a housing for an existing technical package or a film for an existing product, as well as all the design work around your product.
Engineering, design and marketing come together with us
In many companies, product, operation and communication are developed in separate places. We connect them from the start: the CAD data flows directly into renderings, animations or a configurator.
For you, this means less coordination between departments and service providers, and images and films that show the product the way you envision it.
One example is the medienBuddy for Hohenloher: user research, product design, engineering, user interface and launch film all came from one team.

Our clients come mainly from mechanical and plant engineering, medical technology and the consumer goods industry, many of them from Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
We usually work with our clients’ engineering or marketing teams. We step in when specialist expertise or additional capacity is needed, and deliver results the in-house team can continue working with directly.
Awards
Our work has received 13 Red Dot Awards, 11 iF Design Awards and four Focus Open Gold awards, the International Design Award of Baden-Württemberg, among others. In 2026 the Leitz Portable Desk Organizers received the Red Dot: Best of the Best.

Who is UP Designstudio?
We are a design studio in Stuttgart with 25 people from product design, engineering, UX, communication design, 3D animation and web development. Unlike a pure advertising or design agency, we work directly with our clients’ engineering teams: together we work out which components will be built in, what can be manufactured and where the focus lies. And we keep in mind who the product is ultimately for: our clients’ customers.
Many of our clients have been coming back to us with new projects for years, from international corporations and companies active throughout Germany to medium-sized businesses.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a design studio and an advertising agency?
An advertising agency mainly designs the communication about a product. We also design the product itself: its form, its operation and the applications your customers use to choose it. To do so, we work directly with your engineering and production teams, and the CAD data later flows into animations and the brand.
Do you only work with companies from Stuttgart?
No. Our clients are based throughout Germany and abroad, many of them in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Workshops and meetings take place at our studio in Stuttgart, on your premises or online.
How does working together begin?
With an initial conversation: you describe your project, we ask questions and assess which services you need. You then receive a proposal with approach, schedule and costs.
